Porch & Main
Our House
Porch & Main is a community of small business advisors serving the people and places traditional finance was never built for. Every engagement is worked as a team, the knowledge is shared instead of gatekept, and every client served helps fund the start of the next business coming up behind them.
The advisors on this porch chose that work on purpose.

Why I built it
For generations, the knowledge of how money works was kept behind paywalls, jargon, and doors our communities weren’t invited through. I watched the wisdom run out of a grandmother’s kitchen, a circle of neighbors, a tin everyone paid into, and trust that everyone honored. The system always worked. It was the access that was withheld.
Porch & Main is me giving it back.
The background
Alvin grew up in a Caribbean community in Boston, in a home where money was managed carefully because it had to be. He didn’t discover the problem Porch & Main exists to solve from the outside. He grew up inside it.
He has spent more than twenty years working from inside financial systems most people only see from the outside, from multinational firms like Deloitte, Microsoft, and Chemonics International, to mid-size companies, to the small businesses and nonprofits where the stakes feel most personal. He has sat in the rooms where the numbers get analyzed and the decisions get made, and he built Porch & Main so the communities that raised him could have someone in that room too.
He holds a Master of Science in CyberAccounting, which means your books are kept by someone who understands not just how financial systems work, but how they get exploited and how to protect them. He is currently completing the CPA designation.
